Business Network International (BNI) is the largest networking organization of its kind with over 5,600 chapters worldwide. It was founded by Dr. Ivan Misner in 1985 with the purpose of helping business people grow their respective businesses by networking and providing referrals to each other. In 2009 BNI members generated 6.2 million referrals resulting in $2.6 billion dollars, this was accomplished by practicing BNI’s philosophy and motto which is “Giver’s Gain,” meaning we give referrals and receive referrals. Prospective members are screened to ensure that only reputable and professional individuals are accepted into the group. Joining a BNI chapter is like gaining an extended sales force for your business, as members work within their own personal and professional contacts to identify quality leads and referrals for you. Only one member per industry is allowed in each chapter therefore there is no internal competition for your business.
